A brief report on the visit to the Holy Father on 5th May 1979. Memorandum for the visit complied and copy provided to Archbishop Coggan. Lists documents which express the RC church;'s stance on the ordination of women. Hume did put four question to the Pope about ordination of women and requested the Pope's answers as being helpful to both Hume and Coggan. Discussed at length the attitude towards Anglican Orders, Hume said "... the resolution of the problem of Orders should proceed with our attempts to reach agreement on the nature of the Church and the content of the Faith."

"With profound admiration the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement are honoured to present the
Christian Unity Award
to the
Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission
to acknowledge its contribution to the Church and to encourage its efforts which are preparing the Churches for a new age of shared life.
We rejoice that you have declared your goal to be the realization of full communion between the Roman Catholic Church and the Churches of the Anglican Communion, and have worked effectively towards this goal.
Your work has shown that Christian Unity is no visionary dream & that the prayer of the Son of God will not be answered apart from such efforts.
'Patience must be allowed plenty of time to do her work perfectly. She cannot and will not be hurried, the fabric is exceedingly delicate; the pattern most elaborate; the Robe of Unity she is wearing for the Son of God will be matchless beauty.' (Father Paul)
Given in memory of Father Paul James Francis, SA founder of the Society of the Atonement and Apostle of Christian Unity, this third day of May in the year of our Lord MCMLXXIV."
"On Sunday 23rd May, Acle Churches Together (ACT) held its traditional annual prayer walk, stopping at various venues in the village to recognise and pray for the work done by the staff employed within." Story continues

Mrs S Walker writes about a proposed Ecumenical Centre at a quiet Cambridgeshire farm house. CorrespondentFollowing the report from the KL Preservation Trust and the article in the EDP about Red Mount Chapel have to make it clear that something has to be done to ensure this building is maintained, as orginally taken on by the Catholic Churchas as an ecumenical gesture, and remains in focus for 500 years of pilgrimages to Walsingham.
