Biographical history

Born 197; died on 6 July, aged 89; educated at Stone and Aberdeen Grammar schools, graduated in history from Aberdeen University in 1936, and trained for the priesthood in the Church of England at St Stephen's House, Oxford.
Ordained in May 1940
1940-1942, curate at Meir, Stoke-on Trent; volunteered to serve as an army chaplain.
1946-1957, Vicar of Cross Heath, Newcastle-under-Lyme where he arranged the building of a new church St Michael's, Cross Heath; while in Cross Heath, he was also Anglican Chaplain to Keele University.
1957-1965, Vicar of St John's, Horninglow, Burton-on-Trent
1965-1972, Rector of Uppingham, in Rutland
1972 to 1977, he served as Rural Dean of Rutland, and Rector of Market Overton.
1977-1981, Rector of Staverton, near Daventry
1981 retired
1988, he was received into the Roman Catholic Church, and was active as a layman worshipping in Roman Catholic churches, based in Oakham, Leicester, and latterly at Great Billing, Northampton.
