Expresses concern about children's education and the conduct of Mass on Sunday morning. The replacement of Fr Drury by Fr Kerby has left him feeling an "outsider". Considers making young children recite Rosary over and over is neither interesting nor comparing well with the Baptist Sunday School which relates more to the younger children's interests. Believes that introduction to Catholicism should be progressive as children get older and more able to understand the issues. Does not like writing this kind of letter (behind Fr Kerby's back) but he identifies a negative effect from Fr Kerby's comments & behaviour. This has been a big step backwards.

Barker, Elizabeth MrsBishop enjoy his holiday in Scotland? Not got lost like in St Ives! This is status report on St Ives. Fr Kerby is a good person face-to-face but not so as a parish priest - "I could shoot him." Numbers falling, so new extension not needed; Fr Kerby cannot preach - indistinct, too many points; makes up his own bidding prayers; too much Mary. Really worried, it used to be a active and alive parish but now its dying and not slowly; do not know what to do. John Gardner preached and was reported to be good; but Fr Kerby wants to do it himself.
Kellock, Anne MissA request to Fr Kerby to add her name to the list for those wishing to see the Pope in Wembley elicited an upsetting response. After her and her husband have provided so much support to the Church in St Ives, she asks whether she is thought of as being "second class".
