Trusts that the chalice has been received safely and it complies with Fr Phillips wishes as to size. Record it in the Mission Book and Inventory. The other will be re-gilded and held for any other Poor Mission that is going begging.

Sister M Paul asks the Bishop to consecrate their new chalice when he visits Yarmouth next Sunday.
Manuscript annotation: "Did so on Sunday p.m. July 4/27"
Mrs Temple Layton has sent chalice on, formerly of Brampton, a small silver chalice engraved "St Joseph's College, Brampton, 1888" - asks Bp's permisson to keep as a second chalice. A request from a catholic (Mr Goddard of Gt Staughton, Hunts) to purchase some land to build a bungalow for him and his wife - both of poor health and may not last long - hears that he may bequest the land/building back to the diocese. Attended his sister's clothing at Meaux [France]. Then on to Clarmont to visit Madame Betheley (was Rev Mother at Aldeburgh) who is delighted to hear of the progress of the sisters in that parish. Fr M was off-colour but feeling better now.
manuscript annotation: "1. Keep chalice make note of circumstances in your Mission book. 2. Must place Goddard's desire to buy and build at St Neots before Advisory Board and promise to leave house and purchased land back to the Diocese must be first, not second hand."
2nd manuscript annotation [red crayon]: "Don't lose this!"
Last year the question of Special Ministers of Holy Communion arose - but not addressed. In August & September Fr O'Toole was incapacitated with torn ligaments and the need for these ministers became more relevant. Could Bishop come and commission them? Possibly before 1st April because of the special Mass to dedicate all those parishioners engaged in supporting roles in the Church. Would like Communion from the Chalice.
This event will be a stepping stone for Norwich on 16th May.
Manuscript note: "6th April Monday pm"
Thanks the Bishop for the Chalice - "The size quite suitable". Will note it in Mission Book and Inventory.
Phillips, Thomas Kemp Rev (1883-1947)Thanks the Bishop for the offer of a Chalice - returning Mrs Jump's Chalice by registered parcel post. If there is any choice he'd like one not smaller than Mrs Jump's since all his Veils are rather large.
Phillips, Thomas Kemp Rev (1883-1947)Asks if Fr Dreves can preach a missionary sermon on Sunday 6 October. Permission to get a new chalice. Old one needs re-gilding and he prefers using the cost of this towards obtaining a new one.
Phillips, Thomas Kemp Rev (1883-1947)Captain Curties is not all he seems. Fr Wrigglesworth explains, at length, the problems he has with this man. Fr W has tried to accommodate this man's wishes (see story about the chalice). In fact Fr W suggests that reparation, etc. should be made to him by Captain Curtis after the mischief he and his agents have brought to this congregation. God will put everything right in his own time.
