Writing for 5 Crescent Place, Egerton Gardens, London SW3. F K Gregory is an early 20th century artist.
4 paintings were loaned to Fr Lockyer who had agreed to give them wall space at St Michael's house. Hearing that Fr Lockyer has left Huntingdon, he asked for the painting to be returned. They have been taken away by Fr Lockyer. These four painting are the gems of his collection and he needs them back in order to show them at the next Academy [Royal Academy of Arts annual exhibition?]. He has had a sketchbook returned (which he accidentally left in Huntingdon) and sees that some female friends' images have been scribbled on and a moustache added. He also understands that Fr Lockyer has taken books left by him as a library for the Church in Huntingdon. He asks the bishop to intercede and arrange for the return of his property in a timely manner.
manuscript annotation (in red ink): "Sent Fr Lockyer's letter - pictures at Huntingdon"

Fr Ketterer writes from Gt. Billing, Northamptonshire: The Studio had been difficult to let and when he informed the Bishop he was told to do what he could. He let to Mr Smith with no formal agreement (as supported by Mr King, Mr Pauling's agent) and sub-letting was not mentioned. He did not liking this way of doing things.

Unfortunately his letter was too late for the Sisters in Wales. There are two properties both suitable for convent schools - one with 35 acres the other with 70 acres. Does Canon Tonks know of any communities on the look out for properties? Much better as the pleurisy attack was mild but still with him, not confined to bed.

Daily Mail has announced Canon Elwes is to be new Bishop - good to have our own man. he's a kind and just man, but be careful when he is liverish - you'll know because his hair gets untidy.
Anything from the Holy Ghost nuns? Need to contact them about Hailford House and grounds. Fr Purcell appreciates your kind words - he's a man who gets little encouragement and appreciates a kind word.
Problems in making a claim for a tax return - can Fr Tonks help?
Wish to take him to see the improvements at St Neots church.

No returns been made to tax inspector. Address for the Holy Ghost nuns? Would help to get the mission going if a convent were here. Canon Elwes appointment as bishop is good news. He played cello at some concerts here and has supplied for me. Pleurisy back - worried about having to travel 22 miles between masses.

Fr Howlin has contacted Fr Whyatt who thinks the deeds will be in Bishop's House. Fr Tomlinson or Fr Hardwick might know more. Property next door has become available. It is bordered by two parallel streets. Suggests that instructing a solicitor may be a good idea.

Writing from Great Billing, Fr Ketterer did not authorize the cookery room or the W.C. - did not know about them until months later. Similarly about the key and the sub-letting. He had intended to protest but in the hurry of his departure which was quite unexpected he completely forgot the matter.
