Writing from 14 Bishops Mansions, Bishops Park, London SW6.
Thanks the bishop for his beautiful letter. His brother is critically ill but having had the operation and survived for so long the doctors believe he will pull through. Cannot believe that the Provost is dead having looked after him for so long - at least one wish was granted, that he die on a Saturday. Grieved to learn the Bishop is on the sick list.

Informing the Bishop that the Provost has been seen by two doctors who have slightly different prognoses for his prostate trouble -one saying it is benign the other cancerous. The VG [Vicar General] (Mgr Freeland) visited and advised the Last Sacraments for the Provost. Fr Malone did this whilst the Provost said he was not dying but now had his "ticket"!
Also hopes the bishop is making progress and will recover soon.
