Will be there on 23rd March to inaugurate the Guild. Hopes it will do much good in spreading the Faith in Suffolk (and East Anglia) where Fr Davidson and Fr Mason have been doing such excellent pioneer work. What role is the Bishop to play? The sanctuary is a bit small for a Pontifical High Mass even if you could get the servers on a week day. We'll see what wonders you can manufacture out of the blue!

"Tens of thousands of Catholics watched live-streamed Masses in up to 17 churches across the Diocese of East Anglia over Easter, after churches were closed to physical congregations due to Covid-19 restrictions." Story continues
image captioned: "Live-streaming of Mass at St John's Cathedral in Norwich has been wonderfully well-received, says Bishop Alan Hopes (right) [image insert]: "To know that so many people have been watching and have received reassurance and hope in this difficult time is a source of grate blessing..'"

Leiston debt is £115, advice sent by Canon Tonks. Offers a number of options to deal with the debt - e.g. his own life policy. Wants to clear as much of the debt as possible so as not to encumber the next priest into Aldeburgh. Parishioners have given £10 for Masses to be said. Building fund stands at £194. The Conference suggestion is for St Peter to be the saint to whom the church is dedicated. FR Davidson continues in manuscript on side 2 to say that he has no obligation to leave the money to his family, they will get his capital anyway.
Manuscript annotation: "Leave old debts alone. [?] at A. & L. pro [?]. If you are minded to be generous I'd prefer it to go towards building question for the time being. Make a list of those who leave £10 or [?][?], say Mass yourself. Don't be frightened. Don't fall into panic or be moved to sentiment!"

Parishioner [unnamed] "is going off her head". Asks leave to carry on in Presbytery if she locks up the chapel (to keep out the nuns from Northampton). If her cash goes elsewhere then it really does not matter. Other parishioners will be pleased to return the presbytery. The Baptist minister's daughter said she wished to become a Catholic.
            Manuscript annotation "Answered".

Servite Sisters of Beccles have asked him to be their Confessor-Extraordinary following Fr Vermuelen's departure. Permission to say mass at Dunwich (on St Felix, March 8) for himself or Fr Davidson. Bitter weather - much sickness and want.
manuscript annotation: "Yes to both, this letter is I fear too late, but can have any Mass [illegible], Sent faculty for confessor-extraordinary for Beccles nuns Mch 7/29"

Fr Jolly has asked Major Rous to advise the Bishop of his intent to support a priest when a mass centre is opened in Framlingham. He and his wife will find accommodation for a visiting priest either at his place or within the parish. A monthly mass at Framlingham will benefit those who cannot get to Aldeburgh or Woodbridge. Some cannot attend mass at all; children's religious education is sadly neglected. He enjoins the Bishop to provide a priest to say mass monthly at the Crown Hotel in Framlingham.
