Forwarding the sketch plans and drawings for Aldeburgh Church design. Describes the church, Gothic with Round Tower (typical of Suffolk, with flints and plan roofing tiles). Chesham Bois church has similar floor area. Rough costing £1500 to £1600 a further £500 to complete Tower and porch. Fawcett Road is cramped and not suitable, but Fr Delaney has indicated The Terrace site, which is much better and allows room for future requirements.
Arthur Young / Allan D ReidAdvising that Certificate #2 is due for payment - £400 to the contractor and £32 fee for Architects. Fr Davidson has made arrangements for Canon Tonks to meet payment.

Bishop sorry about the continuing problems with the tower. Fr Reffitt will be visiting soon, but the Bishop cannot. In the meantime Fr Bull should keep his letters for the Board meeting.
Parker, Thomas Leo Rev (1887-1975)Inclined to approve the scheme. The parish is to pay for it so the Diocese will not be called upon to provide the modest £50. Not only weather makes a visit: "For one, thing, when you are not in the depths of hell, or its equivalent, you can make anybody happy!"
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Will be there on 23rd March to inaugurate the Guild. Hopes it will do much good in spreading the Faith in Suffolk (and East Anglia) where Fr Davidson and Fr Mason have been doing such excellent pioneer work. What role is the Bishop to play? The sanctuary is a bit small for a Pontifical High Mass even if you could get the servers on a week day. We'll see what wonders you can manufacture out of the blue!
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Cannot come to see Fr Reeman - how are the presbytery alterations coming on? Leiston old church site not yet sold. What prospects as money is needed for Leiston?
Parker, Thomas Leo Rev (1887-1975)Bishop advises that deeds for presbytery (Normanhurst plots 34 & 35?) are with Withams. As is the separate deed for church plot. Good idea to have a church hall, but, all costs, etc. must go through Finance Board, which meets on 26 February. Bishop is at the Convent in Ipswich and could deal with the matter himself if it is urgent. Does Fr Jolly know anything about Mrs Spencer of Thoringham, Saxmundham? May have lunch there and might meet Fr Jolly there too.
Bishop's OfficeWill look up the matter when in Aldeburgh next week. He recalls two cheques, £100 and £10. The second was dishonoured as the Sisters had closed their bank account when leaving Aldeburgh. The £100 was sent to the solicitor, Yorke, to pay for the first site for the church.
