Fr Davidson sets out the timetable for the Visitation. 20 children and 1 adult for confirmation at Leiston - then coffee after Mass is an opportunity to meet the congregation. Mrs Russell has offered her house, next to the church, for the Aldeburgh congregation to meet the Bishop. 10 housebound parishioners to be seen which will take 2 to 3 hours over 30 miles. The remoteness of Aldeburgh & Leiston means that registrars are reluctant to attend after 2.30pm. Thus, Fr Thomson is sending an application for himself to register as an authorised person for the churches at Aldeburgh and Leiston for Marriages.

Fr Hammond has not yet told the sick brethren about the visit and says the Bishop will be free to do the Baptism. He has been invited to join the Bishop for Saturday supper and Sunday lunch.

Cannot form an estimate of income from the visitors during the season, therefore will ask Canon Ashmole for an application form for the Poor Mission fund soon. No problem with putting the chapel on the garden in fact he might be able to get an additional strip of land as a gift. After his return from Paris, Fr Delaney hopes to do great things with building fund and maintenance fund. Would like to get building soon since it is difficult to accommodate the existing congregation without including visitors. Numbers are increasing 3 recantations in both Aldeburgh and Leiston; four ready for full baptism; three babies for baptism.

Persuaded a friend in London to lend £250 at 5%, Abbot Egan to guarantee the interest. Mr Fookes [sic] a hard and immovable man. The current tenant at Eton House, Mrs Galsworthy has offered the first quarter's rent for the sisters to set up school; eager to see the nuns here because she wants to send her daughter to the school. Invites the Bishop for a Confirmation in August. Requested faculties for Fr Hogan SJ (at St Edmunds) who is visiting for 10 days. Asks for approval to attend a retreat at Parkminster.

Fr Davidson believes Kimber, given enough rope, will hang himself and his fraud will be discovered soon. Captain Mayne is involved. Kimber has asked for his adopted six year old boy to be baptised. Fr Davidson has requested proof of adoption. and does not expect to hear from him again. Manuscript p.s. "I enclose Kimber's letter in an advert from La Croix. I have stopped the Universe One."

Fr Back has been in hospital for 3 days with pancreatitis. Description of his condition and stay in hospital. Sees in his diary that he has been out to 40 meals since just before Christmas! Situation report about the Parish: re-heating done; repair programme for presbytery (no longer up for sale); site at Leiston; more children at liturgy; 2 receptions for Eater; assemblies at school; contacting B&Bs and hotels; expects to be chaplain to the Mayor; coach booked for Chrism Mass. Forward look to exchange with priest in London; Verona for a week; first Communions and then Aldeburgh Festival.

Downham Market is an issue on which we must stand - "whatever the personal holiness of Ossie (and God alone is the Judge here), he is corrupting a holy thing - and this is the hidden evil." Unwavering leadership is required. Confront Ossie with the obedience he owes, and, that the Pope has formally specified the circumstances in which the rite may be celebrated.
