The letter is also a covering note for his last quarter's accounts of which the car seems to "lap up money", although he rarely travels outside of his district.

The covering letter introduces the accounts for 1928. He asks for £75 anticipating overspend in 1929. The accounts show two columns: Receipts & Expenditure. Receipts include Guest in presbytery (£51) and donation by Fr Phillips of £175. Expenditure includes Housekeeping (£75) and M/Cycle & Bicycle (£44).

Covering letter for 1934/5 accounts highlighting a £25 deficit. However Fr Ketterer has a scheme to put it right, but if the Diocese is willing to clear the debt then he'd be happy. Regarding the land - no news yet, not even an acknowledgement of the offer.

Unable to meet the bills for the last quarter. Supporting statement provided. His economy will not help if the congregation cannot do more. Comparing his situation with that of Fr Phillips in the account book, he notes that their expenses are about the same. Hating to admit failure he has to write hoping Canon Tonks will make his "failure - a victory!"

Fr Ketterer provides the accounts (set out in the bottom half of the page) for the half year saying it has been a heavy time and no increase in income. With the new house and premises he hopes to have a more favourable balance by October. His deficit is £35.19.9

Covering letter for the enclosed 1982 financial statement. The parish is overspending and £70 per week for a housekeeper for one priest is excessive. Miss Scarfe, the housekeeper, had intended to retire on her 60th birthday but the death of Fr Chapman had led her to offer to stay on for a couple months. Fr Farrell considers voluntary help will be sufficient. He has asked Peter Wilson to provide forms & leaflets to promote a covenant drive to address the lost revenue. He closes by saying these steps are necessary.

A letter to parishioners setting out the steps taken by Fr Farrell to address the financial problems with the parish: Housekeeper leaving, cancelling Sunday Bulletin, Re-calibration of electricity meters, Hall hire increase, covenants. The reverse side provides an account for the year to 31 December 1982 detailing income and expenditure - showing a deficit of £638

Asking for the enclosed [not present] to be passed to Canon Peacock. Fr Delaney had always said that the account would be settled in time and there is a fund to deal with it.

Canon Peacock informs them that the Bishop is in the area - he can be asked to sign the Conveyance to Mr Smith. The deed will be forwarded to Fr Parker. Any charges on the land? The vacant land is assumed not to have rates or taxes and Mr Smith will provide the balance of the purchase money. Supporting statement received from Mr Reade for his commission: "I beg to say that I was asked to find a customer for the land and having done so am entitled to usual commission for the same. As nothing had been said about commission I thought it best to mention the matter before deducting the amount but I did not suppose for one moment but that your client would be willing to pay it." Jackaman say that if this is the case then the commission seems fair and reasonable.

Explains that his superior considers an honorarium of £1 per Sunday and £1 for obtaining a supply for the Assumption is £7 but the difference between collections and expenses is £4.6.9 1/2, leaving £2.13.2 1/2 owing. Bishop asked Canon Peacock to check out monies paid by the Ursuline Nuns in 1919 and subsequent payments associated with that. The workings are split between Aldeburgh and Leiston and cover the period from 13 December 1919 to 10 September 1922.
